If you have difficulties in recalling things you have just seen or things you have just heard, you are probably suffering from short term memory loss. Both types of memory loss, short term memory loss and long term memory loss can be a normal part in the process of aging, which makes seniors more prone to memory loss. There are different types of remedies that can be done to help in maintaining your short term memory sharp. By talking about remedies in keeping your short term memory sharp, eating foods that can be beneficial to the brain’s function can really help in improving short term memory.

Foods for Short Term Memory Improvement

These foods that will be mentioned below will not only help in improving your short term memory, but it will also help in maintaining or keeping your overall body healthy. Foods that can be beneficial in keeping the short term memory sharp include but not limited to:

  • Fresh Fruits – Fresh fruits are very good sources of natural antioxidants that will help in flushing out toxins out from the body. Antioxidants will help in reducing likelihood of inflammation in the brain, thus protecting the brain against free radicals and toxins from damaging the brain and affecting its normal function. Fresh fruits that are very high in natural antioxidants include strawberries, avocados, oranges, cranberries, blueberries, and many more.
  • Vegetables – just like fresh fruits, vegetables are also very rich in antioxidants. Vegetables that are very famous for their antioxidant properties include broccoli, spinach, carrots, and many more.
  • Omega-3 – consuming foods and other products rich in Omega-3 can be beneficial in reducing inflammation in the brain that can lead to short term memory loss or even Alzheimer’s disease or dementia in seniors. Tuna, salmon, halibut walnuts, tofu, and soybeans are some of the many foods that contain high amounts of omega-3.
  • Green Leafy Vegetables – these vegetables do not just contain antioxidants, it also contains Vitamin B that can be very beneficial when it comes to the production of new brain cells. Aside from green leafy vegetables, there are still a lot of foods that contain vitamin B such as, eggs, turkey lean meat, legumes, and bananas.
  • Grape Juice – grape juice is very rich in Resveratrol. Resveratrol is a type of antioxidant that can help in preventing build up of plaque on your brain that can cause both short term memory loss and long term memory loss. If you do not like to drink grape juice, you can eat peanuts, cranberries, and/or blueberries to consume Resveratrol.
